In 1992, our AEIF Executive Committee encouraged a small group of retired members to form a retired organization.  Carl Reichenbach, Charles Ervin, Jack Reed and Jake Patterson were the initial members of the founding board.  Through their hard work and perseverance this committee succeeded in establishing CARE.  Carl Reichenbach, chaired the founding board and was the first president-elect of CARE.

CARE's goal is to keep retirees, spouses and surviving spouses informed on various issues that may affect them, assist and give aid where it can, be involved with negotiated changes that may affect retirees and to protect and defend retired Armco/AK Steel benefits and rights.

CARE's motto is a "retiree is a retiree"  and its membership is not limited to ex-union members only.  If you are a retired Armco/AK Steel worker or spouse, contact CARE at the AEIF Union Hall for more information about joining.
